Vidocq presents Alistair Sloan

December 8, 2010 By Alice

Alistair Sloan has an interest in Immigration, Human Rights, Criminal and Family Law, he wishes to qualify as a Solicitor in Scotland and practice in one of these areas upon completion of his degree in a few years time.

He tweets under the name @alistair_sloan.

Get to know him better!

1: What is your most favourite part of the day?

Evening – time to relax and enjoy!

2: What is the worst kind of person you ever sat next to on a flight?

I didn’t sit next to this person, but when I was coming back from Canada in 2009 I had a child of around school age behind me who decided to have a temper tantrum and kick the back of my repeatedly mid-way over the Atlantic

3: Have you ever dozed off during a lecture or meeting?

Yes, 9am lectures are never good!

4: If you have a blog, how did you get started? Who or what inspired you to blog?

I read the book “Blood, Sweat and Tea” by Brian Kellett (writing under the pseudonym of Tom Reynolds). In 2008, I began writing down my political opinions on some stories at the time on a social networking site and progressed from there to where I am today: 2 blogs (here and here), with a third on the way, some attempts at podcasting, Twitter, and so on.

5: Did you end up in the profession of your childhood dreams?

My earliest childhood dream was to be a commercial airline pilot, which then turned into being a doctor…so not really.

6: Your worst vacation experience?

My last trip away was to Canada last year.  Out of a flight of 235 people, I was the only one selected by Canadian Customs for “additional customs screening” so an hour of questions and having my luggage searched by Customs was not the best start to my visit to Canada.

Although that has to come second to my interrogation by British Airport Security regarding my choice of reading material (law and politics textbooks including a book titled “A Very Short Introduction to Terrorism).

Author Notes

Since 2009, I write about unsolved cases that need renewed media attention. I only do research and leave active investigations to the authorities.

My posts cover homicides, missing and unidentified people, wrongful convictions, and forensics as related to unsolved cases.

On book reviews: I only review select works of true crime, crime fiction, and historical fiction/mysteries. The stories have to fit my website's theme, tone, and research. It is my prerogative to not review a book. Please check the FAQ page for more.

My databases are free to the public. Cases are sorted by the victim’s last name.

If you have any questions about my website please check the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page, the About page, and the tabs in both menu bars. If you cannot find the answers there, please contact me.

Thank you,

Alice de Sturler
