Bernard Jackson was arraigned Wednesday June 2, 2010, on 18 felonies stemming from four Waldo-area sexual assaults in the 1980s.
Assistant Public Defender Carie Allen entered not-guilty pleas on Jackson’s behalf during the brief appearance before Judge Brent Powell. His next court appearance was scheduled for June 22, 2010.
Police are continuing to investigate the more recent attacks. Jackson is charged with rapes in the same area where five rapes occurred between September 2009 and February 2010.
Victims in the earlier attacks had described the suspect as a black male, about 6 feet tall and 250 pounds, bald, with pitted cheeks – perhaps from acne scars – and with a deep, smooth voice. No charges have been filed in those cases.
