Sum it Up #34

September 15, 2011 By Alice

Finally, I had some time to make a round around the blawgs for a Sum it Up! It is always a pleasure to see what my friends are blogging about and I frequently end up laughing till the coffee comes out of my nose.

Someone who police stories always manages to do that is the one and only Suzie Ivy who blogs over at the Bad Luck Detective. A quote because you really have to read this yourself: “I just wondered if your ace is as bad as mine.” Go check it out for yourself!

This morning, Scott Dickson over at the Crime Analyst’s Blog did the same thing. Even though his post is serious my overactive imagination just could not let go of the weaves, went into full wigs and comb-overs and worse.

But of course, I also read dead serious posts about cold cases. Here is a sampling:

If you are from the Denver, Colorado area check out the Denver Post. They have a cold case blog listing many cases where we still need answers. Check to see if you recognize any of the victims. Do this especially if you moved away some time ago. You may not know that someone you knew back then was murdered and that the case has grown cold.

The RCMP also has a listing with cold cases so the same counts here: please check!

And the last overview of cold cases is from the Ohio Valley. They also have an interactive cold case map and a Twitter account.

Dr. Lyle posts about the 2012 Thriller Fest that will take place in New York City on his Writer’s Forensic blog.

Our favourite writing private investigators have been interviewed and the results are great! A quote: “The voice on the other end of the phone was calm, in control. That part wasn’t unusual. Women who call the offices of Highlands Investigations & Legal Services, Inc., often sound unbreakable. If only that were true. This one used an even tone, but it disguised a fire raging in her gut. And judging from the tale she spilled, she had good reason.” Read on!

Last but not least, Gavin Ward posts five reasons why you should consider having some guest bloggers post on your blog or, to be a guest bloggers on someone else’s blog.

Enjoy!

Author Notes

Since 2009, I write about unsolved cases that need renewed media attention. I only do research and leave active investigations to the authorities.

My posts cover homicides, missing and unidentified people, wrongful convictions, and forensics as related to unsolved cases.

On book reviews: I only review select works of true crime, crime fiction, and historical fiction/mysteries. The stories have to fit my website's theme, tone, and research. It is my prerogative to not review a book. Please check the FAQ page for more.

My databases are free to the public. Cases are sorted by the victim’s last name.

If you have any questions about my website please check the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page, the About page, and the tabs in both menu bars. If you cannot find the answers there, please contact me.

Thank you,

Alice de Sturler
