We did some much needed organizing during this cclivechat to be as effective as we can and to make the most of summer.
I had sent out an email earlier to the core of the “chatters” about making cclivechat more effective. Do we need to change the time or day we have the chat? Do we stay on a weekly schedule during summer when many are gone for some well deserved rest? And what about after summer, do we keep the weekly format? Also, shall we introduce themed chats in which one issue or case is central to the discussion?
Sue noted immediately that we should leave room for a free flow of ideas and cases and I wholeheartedly agree with her. Richard pointed out the advantage of themed sessions: we can prepare. We each have our specialties and if we know in advance what we are going to discuss, we can look up the case/issue, read up and make notes. Then in our chat we can compare, join notes, and advance the case in a more organized manner.
We brainstormed and came up with the following: for now we keep the Friday and the time e.g. noon-1pm EST.
The next cclivechats will be on the following dates:
May 27, June 3, July 15 and August 5.
Joe and I will be thinking about cases/themes that should be central to each chat and will post those here and on Twitter.
In other news, Kathleen took up the Brenda Martinez case and will keep track of it for us. She will update and DCC will link to her posts. Kathleen will also dig into the case of Luther G. Parks and keep us posted. Stephanie will stay on the Karen Caughlin case for now helping me with Internet searches. Sue and Richard will be guest blogging on their areas of expertise.
We also discussed tackling some famous cold cases. Tom Le Veque correctly pointed out that with famous cold cases we will have to filter out a lot of noise. Most true, my friend! But after we filter out the noise, we might be able to tackle the case with fresh eyes and see where it leads us. Ideas? Suggestions? Place your comments below this post for all to see!
Last, I think Joe is interested in Blog Talk Radio so he is exploring that angle.
