Probable cause but no motive: Kyron Horman

July 27, 2010 By Alice

Detectives say there is probable cause to arrest Kyron Horman‘s stepmother for the murder-for-hire plot of her husband, Kaine Horman, and possibly for the 7-year-old’s disappearance, according to a former sheriff’s official.

“The detectives are telling them they have probable cause to arrest Terri Horman right now at least for murder for hire and possibly for the disappearance,” Bruce McCain, former captain of the Multnomah County Sheriff’s office, told CBS affiliate KOIN.

However, it is clear that although authorities are zooming in on the stepmother they are not closer to finding Kyron.

I had hoped that the press news for today would have been about the missing boy and what the prospect of finding him alive is, who else is searching, are the Canadian authorities in on the search since Oregon is near the border, have any tips come in through the internet missing persons community, etc.

Don’t get me wrong, if the stepmother is responsible she should be a target but for now I’d just like to know we finally found Kyron.

Anyone with information on Kyron’s whereabouts is urged to call the Multhnomah County Sheriff’s Office tip line at 1-503-261-2847.
On June 4, 2010, Kyron Horman ‘s stepmother Terri drove him to school. She stayed with him while he attended a science fair. When she left around 845am she saw Kyron walking down the hall to his first class. However, he was never seen in his first math class. He was marked absent for the day and has not been seen since. Despite significant media attention, the case remains unsolved.

Author Notes

Since 2009, I write about unsolved cases that need renewed media attention. I only do research and leave active investigations to the authorities.

My posts cover homicides, missing and unidentified people, wrongful convictions, and forensics as related to unsolved cases.

On book reviews: I only review select works of true crime, crime fiction, and historical fiction/mysteries. The stories have to fit my website's theme, tone, and research. It is my prerogative to not review a book. Please check the FAQ page for more.

My databases are free to the public. Cases are sorted by the victim’s last name.

If you have any questions about my website please check the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page, the About page, and the tabs in both menu bars. If you cannot find the answers there, please contact me.

Thank you,

Alice de Sturler
