A wonderful mixed bag last week of articles and posts to make you laugh, cry, break out in a rash or want to grab a shovel! Not necessarily in that order for this Sum it Up:
Paul Cutler over at a Barrister’s blog has a post that you must read. It is a “how to go from 50 to 50’000!”
I came across the Mystery Writer’s Guide to Forensic Science: collecting evidence and saw the original way of posting about evidence by alphabet. Take a look.
A heartbreaking case, the murder of Matt Novak Jr, almost everything caught on tape from faces to the car but just a tad too vague. The cops still cannot identify the people and the license plate of the car. “The video was sent to multiple tech labs, including Mount Laurel-based NFL Films — to no avail. The video is now being processed by yet another expert in Washington state.” Should you or your company be in any position to help the cops or, if you have any information about the killing of Matt Novak Jr. or the blue Chevrolet Impala, please call the Citizens Crime Commission of Philadelphia anonymous tip line at (215) 546-8477 or, e-mail them at [email protected]. A $21,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the killers in this case.
“Robert Sturcz says he was just five years old when he watched his father strangle his mother and bury her in a crude grave dug in the basement of their East Vancouver home. Now, more than 30 years later, Vancouver police and a team of archeologists are excavating the basement of a subsidized housing unit on Rupert Street in a bid to find the body of a missing woman. What they may find along with the remains of Katherine Mary Brown, Sturcz said, is a confession note, written in crayon, that he was forced to write after seeing his mother choked to death. “[The note] said that it was my fault that my mom was dead,” Sturcz, now 37, told The Province. I wrote what [my dad] wanted me to write.”
The state of Colorado deserves an all-thumbs-up for digging into their cold cases. They are tackling 89 of them right now. Some of those cases date back to 1949. I wish more states would follow your example, Colorado!!!
