Lisa Thomas: 50 years unsolved

On October 7, it is 50 years ago that we lost Lisa Thomas (August 19, 1959 – Oct 7, 1974). She was fifteen years old.

There does not seem to be any progress in the case but we have not forgotten Lisa.

Remembering Lisa

On October 7, an online memorial event will take place at 8pm EST. Gratitude to Mavis Ronayne for keeping me posted. Event information can be found here.

They will ask participants to light candles. If you have pictures of Lisa, you can upload them. Share memories, share the good times, and remember the fifteen year old who never got to grow up.

Your memories and support will comfort the family. They will see that Lisa has not been forgotten.

Talk about her hobbies, how you met, how she influenced your life, and what you appreciated most about her.

The Case

After school, Lisa had planned to go to the Nanuet Mall to shop for a blouse with money she had earned babysitting. She never made it. She was murdered in a very personal attack. Her remains were found in the woods behind the mall.

Before being bludgeoned to death by blows to her head, Lisa was blindfolded with a piece of cloth that came from her purse. Maybe her attacker didn’t want her to see where she was going. Maybe they were afraid to look her in her eyes. Lisa had trauma (puncture wounds) in her nose that reached behind her ear. That seems like an act of intentionally inflicting fear and pain.

Revenge

Here is a link to an article and discussions why Lisa’s murder is considered an act of revenge. The young people were never named in the papers as they were minors at the time. It gives you another take on the case.

As all the players in this case are getting older, it would be good to catch them before it is too late. But for that, we need a confession or someone brave enough to speak up and tell the truth.

Author Notes

Since 2009, I write about unsolved cases that need renewed media attention. I only do research and leave active investigations to the authorities.

My posts cover homicides, missing and unidentified people, wrongful convictions, and forensics as related to unsolved cases.

On book reviews: I only review select works of true crime, crime fiction, and historical fiction/mysteries. The stories have to fit my website's theme, tone, and research. It is my prerogative to not review a book. Please check the FAQ page for more.

My databases are free to the public. Cases are sorted by the victim’s last name.

If you have any questions about my website please check the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page, the About page, and the tabs in both menu bars. If you cannot find the answers there, please contact me.
