Last chance: Robert Boulin

Robert Boulin

Last chance: Robert Boulin was either murdered in 1979 or he committed suicide. We might be able to find out a little more soon.

Thanks to one of my readers I got the link to this article from Les Inrocks. It is in French but you can use Google translate.

One quote:

“2015 will be a decisive year for Fabienne Boulin, daughter of the Minister of Labour Gaullist Robert Boulin, found dead in 1979 in a pond of the forest of Rambouillet.

The case will be barred in January 2016, so it has less than a year to convince the French authorities to reopen the case before it is permanently closed. Because the only heir of Robert Boulin is convinced that the official theory – that of suicide – is inadmissible, and that his father was murdered carefully hidden all these years by the state.”

In 1979, Robert Boulin’s body was found in a pool in the forest of Rambouillet, on the morning of October 30, 1979. Francis Deswarte was the first officer on the scene. According to the official verdict, Boulin drowned after taking barbiturates.

Asked about the official verdict of death by drowning, Deswarte replied: “Robert Boulin did not drown. It is not possible. He was virtually on all fours, his head out of the water. “I am convinced that he was trying to crawl to the bank. And then, he had marks on his face like red scratches.”

Boulin’s daughter is still trying to find out the truth about her father’s death. If you have any articles or links, I’d appreciate it if you contact me so we can update these posts.

The article from Les Inrocks mentions a three-week time span for the CIA to answer to the request to reopen the Boulin investigation. That article was from Feb 11, 2015. Three weeks from then places us in the first week of March, 2015.

Author Notes

Since 2009, I write about unsolved cases that need renewed media attention. I only do research and leave active investigations to the authorities.

My posts cover homicides, missing and unidentified people, wrongful convictions, and forensics as related to unsolved cases.

On book reviews: I only review select works of true crime, crime fiction, and historical fiction/mysteries. The stories have to fit my website's theme, tone, and research. It is my prerogative to not review a book. Please check the FAQ page for more.

My databases are free to the public. Cases are sorted by the victim’s last name.

If you have any questions about my website please check the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page, the About page, and the tabs in both menu bars. If you cannot find the answers there, please contact me.
