#crimechat March 22: Tech Talk!

March 3, 2013 By Alice

Drawing of hands on a keyboard#crimechat March 22: Tech Talk! I will be collecting questions about the tech side of blogging between 10-1pm EST. All these questions will be answered by my tech man and webmaster par excellence: Jacques Soudan.

If you use Twitter: tweet me your blogging related question and add the hashtag #crimechat. I will collect all those questions and email them to Jacques. The questions and his answers will be posted here on DCC in a separate post. The recap will be the usual short summary with the verbatim thread only.

Topics to discuss with Jacques can range from your motivation to start a blog and to keep it up to self-hosting versus using a platform such as Blogger or WordPress. You can also think about the maintenance you must do related to broken URLs, underused tags and categories, widgets and plugins, how to make a backup, the best SEO plugins, and more.

If you do not use Twitter or cannot be online March 22 between 10-1pm EST: leave your question in the comment box below this post. I will collect those and include them in the email to Jacques with the questions from #crimechat.

Why a tech talk during #crimechat?

I get a lot of questions about blogging that I cannot answer. I also see a lot of questions on Twitter related to building a website, problems with back-ups, worries about traffic/readers, the costs of a blog, Google rankings, placing ads on your blog or not, etc. I thought it might be helpful to let Jacques answer some of those questions since he has been in the business for a while.

So … tune in March 22 between 10-1pm EST on Twitter and use hashtag #crimechat or, leave your questions right now in the comment box below.

Happy blogging, V

Author Notes

Since 2009, I write about unsolved cases that need renewed media attention. I only do research and leave active investigations to the authorities.

My posts cover homicides, missing and unidentified people, wrongful convictions, and forensics as related to unsolved cases.

On book reviews: I only review select works of true crime, crime fiction, and historical fiction/mysteries. The stories have to fit my website's theme, tone, and research. It is my prerogative to not review a book. Please check the FAQ page for more.

My databases are free to the public. Cases are sorted by the victim’s last name.

If you have any questions about my website please check the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page, the About page, and the tabs in both menu bars. If you cannot find the answers there, please contact me.

Thank you,

Alice de Sturler
