Are you a blogger?

November 8, 2013 By Alice

red button "blog"Are you a blogger? Do you like to read blogs? If so, get excited: the first ever NRV Bloggers Convention is in the making!

Creative brain: Alice de Sturler, true crime blogger and owner of Defrosting Cold Cases

Partner: Lisa Bleakley, the ‎Executive Director of Tourism at Montgomery County/Christiansburg/Blacksburg, VA

Are you a local blogger interested in networking in the NRV? Would you like to guest blog but don’t know who the local bloggers are? Do you want to start a blog but you are not sure what to do first?

Are you a small company thinking about adding a blog to your website and you can use a hand? Do you design themes?

Would you like to learn some basic coding? Are you interested in vlogs and pod casts? Thinking about self-hosting or buying a domain name?

Worried about the limits of free speech? Interested in copyright, ownership, and intellectual property? Do you know what to do when someone takes your blog content and places it on their own blog?

Lisa and I are looking for bloggers (established and beginners), companies, and organizations to get this convention of the ground. For planning purposed, we are thinking about the fall of 2014 after the beginning of the new college/school year.

Blogging conventions take place all over the USA but none are here in the New River Valley of Virginia. That is not because there is a lack of interest or know-how. The NRV is full of local talent and knowledge. Let’s share and create a blogging community here in our NRV!

If you are interested in attending, speaking, lecturing, hosting workshops, or sponsoring, leave a comment below or contact me.

Author Notes

Since 2009, I write about unsolved cases that need renewed media attention. I only do research and leave active investigations to the authorities.

My posts cover homicides, missing and unidentified people, wrongful convictions, and forensics as related to unsolved cases.

On book reviews: I only review select works of true crime, crime fiction, and historical fiction/mysteries. The stories have to fit my website's theme, tone, and research. It is my prerogative to not review a book. Please check the FAQ page for more.

My databases are free to the public. Cases are sorted by the victim’s last name.

If you have any questions about my website please check the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page, the About page, and the tabs in both menu bars. If you cannot find the answers there, please contact me.

Thank you,

Alice de Sturler
