Beaumont Children: Third Excavation

February 10, 2025 By Alice

Beaumont ChildrenUPDATE March 1, 2025: “The seven-day search for the missing Beaumont children at the former Castalloy site, in Adelaide’s west, has failed to unearth any signs of remains but MP Frank Pangallo says he’s received “significant information” from “extremely credible people”.

The independent MP announced early on Saturday afternoon that the search, which he claims was “the biggest clandestine grave dig in the world”, had officially concluded.”

If I find anything in the papers about that information, I will update the case in the database.

A third search will take place after ‘new information’ came in, said Independent MP Frank Pangallo. The Beaumont children disappeared on Australia Day 1966.

“A former factory site previously examined by investigators, looking for clues about the disappearance of the Beaumont children, will be re-excavated.”

The children disappeared from Adelaide’s Glenelg Beach in 1966. Mr. Pangallo said the private dig would begin on February 22. It will be the last chance to search for remains as the land has been sold.

Case details are here.

The third search of this area will be more extensive than the 2013 and 2018 searches. This private search will be done by “a local earth moving firm in conjunction with two forensic archaeologists who are experts in looking for bodies” as well as university students.”

The latest information is about the right level to dig. According to this article, the 2018 search did not go deep enough. “They didn’t excavate at the right level because a considerable amount of fill had been put on top, so what’s going to happen this time is it’ll be over a wider area and it’ll go down deeper and also include these two other sites,” he said. The difference might be as much as two meters depth.

South Adelaide Police will be monitoring but they are skeptical. They think the private search is “following a theory that SAPOL believes is not supported by evidence and available information” a police spokesperson said. The 2013 search is not discussed in the above-mentioned article.

The parents of the three Beaumont Children have passed away. Nancy Beaumont passed away in 2019 and her husband, Grant “Jim” Beaumont, Sr passed away in 2023.

Author Notes

Since 2009, I write about unsolved cases that need renewed media attention. I only do research and leave active investigations to the authorities.

My posts cover homicides, missing and unidentified people, wrongful convictions, and forensics as related to unsolved cases.

On book reviews: I only review select works of true crime, crime fiction, and historical fiction/mysteries. The stories have to fit my website's theme, tone, and research. It is my prerogative to not review a book. Please check the FAQ page for more.

My databases are free to the public. Cases are sorted by the victim’s last name.

If you have any questions about my website please check the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page, the About page, and the tabs in both menu bars. If you cannot find the answers there, please contact me.
