The start of the next decennial, the start of a new year, the start of the first day back writing about true crime on my website.
Welcome back to all my readers who stuck with me. Many of you encouraged me to indeed take a break and I cannot tell you how welcome your messages were.
Before I wrote this, I took a peek at my statistics of the past ten years and we cannot complain. In the past ten years, DCC got more than 2.5 million page views. Interestingly, the bulk of this traffic (more than 65%) comes directly from search engines.
The most visited pages were my research method a.k.a cold cases 101 and of course, the database. While I was on break, I did update the database in several cases as news broke. I am glad it is helpful to those doing their own research. This year, I will be brainstorming with Jacques Soudan to see what our options are to maybe split up the database, use a different format, etc. The database will always be free to the public and there will not be any ads here to distract from the message: awareness for old, unsolved cases.
In the coming year, I will write in a less strict schedule. I used to keep the case postings on the 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd of every month with exceptions for of course, breaking news. However, after ten years I think that it is time to change this. The Case of the Month will still go live every first of the month. All other posts will not have a scheduled date. Book reviews will still be done as usual e.g. no deadlines but I do post it here as soon as possible.
So, without further delay, I will be writing again and post new case analyses here. As always, thank you to all my readers and to everyone who shares these cases on their social media accounts.
I appreciate you all!
Best,
Alice
