See you at the Roanoke Writers Series on Wednesday

October 14, 2013 By Alice

red button "blog"See you at the Roanoke Writers Series on Wednesday for an evening class about cold case blogging. The class is from 630-8pm on Wednesday, Oct 16, at the Roanoke Community High School. I will be in the Liminal Hall.

This will be the last class of the year before the Roanoke Regional Writers Conference Jan 24-25, 2014, at Hollins University. At that conference, I will teach a Saturday workshop on Social Media & True Crime. It will be an outline for authors how to merge social media in their marketing plan filled with tips on blogging.

For the Oct 16 evening class, I will take a look at unsolved homicides. What is the best way to blog about them? Do you just report and add a newspaper link or do you make it your own? And if so, how do you add a personal touch to such a story.

In 20 easy steps we will explore some of the routines that I have since I started blogging at the end of 2009. I will bring some mind maps about cold cases as well. After the talk, there will be time for questions.

Hope to see many of you!

Cheers, Alice

P.S.: I will post the class notes on my blog later that week.

Author Notes

Since 2009, I write about unsolved cases that need renewed media attention. I only do research and leave active investigations to the authorities.

My posts cover homicides, missing and unidentified people, wrongful convictions, and forensics as related to unsolved cases.

On book reviews: I only review select works of true crime, crime fiction, and historical fiction/mysteries. The stories have to fit my website's theme, tone, and research. It is my prerogative to not review a book. Please check the FAQ page for more.

My databases are free to the public. Cases are sorted by the victim’s last name.

If you have any questions about my website please check the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page, the About page, and the tabs in both menu bars. If you cannot find the answers there, please contact me.

Thank you,
