This season of festivities and joy is bitter-sweet knowing that some loved ones are missing from our table.
Some families lost their loved ones and had hoped to get some answers this year.
Some did, yes.
But progress is slow and there is no telling which cases will get answers in the New Year.
I wish that I knew exactly what to say to wish these family members well for the New Year while at the same time acknowledge their pain and express sympathy. But I am not that gifted.
A dear friend of mine, Evie, is. She wrote the following poem that comforted me after my dad passed away.
A guardian angel came to me, one night when I was sleeping,
I felt him gently wipe away the tears I had been weeping,
I felt his heart caress my soul with tender loving care,
When I awoke and looked around, nobody was there.
