A fast-paced #cclivechat that still has my mind spinning… here goes:
Joined by TRLeVeque, KatCop13, TanyaGoodwinDoc, SarahEGlenn, BlueDog89, IowaColdCases, WyndhamForensic, OceanBluePress, WorldCrime, and of course, ColdCaseSquad, our discussions focussed on digital forensics in the cases of Novak and Wei, we touched on the Linda Sohus case, we discussed extradition, Crime Stoppers, rewards, and facial mapping.
The cases of Jason Wei and Matt Novak, Jr., were introduced by me because I kept wondering whether digital forensics and facial mapping could be used to help shed alight on these cases. In the case of Jason Wei, we would need digital forensics to take off the shooter’s hood and glasses and reconstruct the face. No other footage is available in this case. In the case of Matt Novak, Jr., we’d need to see through the wind shield, enhance the license plate, and possible see through the rear windows when the car circles back. OceanBluePress had great remarks concerning this case so be sure to scroll down to follow his line of thinking.
Tanya was all about extradition today and wanted to know some details. TRLeVeque stated it would all depend on the severity of the charge and the amount of bail demanded and KatCop13 added that a consult with the DA’s office had to take place before any prosecution could continue on those charges.
Close-up pictures and age-progressed pictures of Linda Sohus would be helpful and as soon as I get more information, it will be posted on DCC.
KatCop13 discussed the effect of rewards, their amount and whether it translated to more solutions in cold cases. She dug into her working experience with Crime Stoppers, see below.
LilacLounge chimed in on digital forensics and facial mapping and pointed us to this website.
