Powers Not Delegated by Rodney Page is a book that will leave you with a headache of the good kind. This book describes every feeling of helplessness a citizen gets when big government tries to take over.
It voices the frustration of Governors whose hands are more tied than ever. It shows you what happens when we misinterpret the Constitution and use it for our own agenda. Thank heavens, it also shows us how we can rise above the fraudulent behaviour. But the result comes at a cost.
It starts with a premise upon which the author adds layer over layers of plots. However, he makes it work. The more layers he adds, the more you feel doom approaching because technically, it can happen.
We meet a charismatic President who seemed a breath of fresh air compared to those who were Commander-in-Chief before him. But behind the scenes, we find out that the man is nothing but a puppet. The Chief of Staff has an agenda of his own and he does not hesitate to execute his plan.
Members of both parties, sick of corruption and disloyalty to the Constitution’s spirit, find each other. Despite ideological differences, they respect each other for their integrity. It is a small group but wisely they extend their reach beyond fellow politicians.
Georgia Congressman Tyler Armistead sets into motion a machinery that analyses the corruption within the Democratic Administration and the White House. He enlists help from those he trusts regardless of party affiliation. While researching the documentation and files, each member of Armistead’s team brings to the table another layer of fraud, how it was committed, what it did to the system, and how we can reverse it.
As I said, the results come at a cost. We lose brave men and women who did not remain silent when they found double bookings or separate sets of files.
Rodney Page’s journalism and business background is clear in his writings and it adds to the plot unfolding. Yes, it is a work of fiction but it is possible and he presents it in a believable way that leaves you with the aforementioned headache: how much of this is already going on and we did not see it?
I am not going to give away the plots. You have to read and experience them for yourself.
If you love politics, intrigue, political suspense, devious plots involving number crunching and manipulation, or you just wish that politicians would starts representing the people again, this book is for you.
Highly recommended reading!
I received a free copy of this book through the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
